Happiness is the ultimate goal in life. Knowledge is one of the key factors for happiness. Due to financial situations, many people never get the opportunity to go to school and realize the value of education. Therefore, Sakthi Foundation started Sakthi schools in the village of Sendurai to educate kids.
Sendurai is a beautiful town near Madurai, surrounded by hills. Sendurai has nearly 5000 residents and they are mostly farmers. Average family income is approximately Rs. 50 ($ 1) per day and the literacy rate is less than 5%. Therefore, the children's are forced to work in the agricultural lands to help their parents. Though there are government schools nearby, very few children get good quality education.
Since its inception in December of 2007, in the economically challenged Sendurai Village, the school is doing well and educated several children. Most importantly, the school is celebrating its fifth year of providing quality education with the generous support from several of you. We request you to continue to help this good cause, and you will be remembered by these children when they grow up.
Personalized Education: While every child is unique and they all face number of challenges, including emotional, physical, discipline and ability to learning, etc. It is the responsibility of parents and the School to help these children to discover themselves and overcome their challenges. Our school pays extra attention to the unique need of each child by having many teachers (one teacher for every five children) and making sure that we provide whatever is necessary just for that child.
Unique style of teaching: Most importantly, we have adapted a unique style of teaching utilizing universal pattern recognition (UNI5-system) in addition to the Montessori style of education. This system of education makes children to learn quickly and grasp the ability to solve the problem rather than simply focusing on facts. Our aim is to develop individuals, who are in later years develop responsibility, self-analysis, self-learning with tremendous creative potential. Especially, our system encourages children to ask big questions of life.x
Love and Care: It is most common in villages that children refuse to go to school. In contrary, these children never like to skip the school and our attendance is always full and in fact, they cry to go to school. It is because of the love and affection shown by the teachers to the children.x
