Breast Milk

Mother is the symbol of  Selfless service or Love and that is the revolutionary act in our evolutionary process. The mammals evolved as a result of their selfless act of giving their body to the young one's in the form of milk having the color of white or charity. The physical science says colored appearance  of objects owe to their inherent property of what to keep with them in contrast to what they give out.  Plant leaves appear green because they absorb all colors but emit green color. So is the case with any colored object and the least honored is black because it absorbs all color and emits nothing. white is opposite to black because   white absorbs nothing but emits everything.

Stress of the mother affects both the physical and mental health of the infant.

After birth also mother has to eat healthily to provide nourishment to the infant through breast milk.

Importance of Breast Milk
-------------------------
1. Only human milk is less in fat and easy to digest. This is the nature's
beauty because of the following points,
(a) The child can be fed often and the child's head often stays close to
mother's heart.
(b) The sense of touch increases and the child realizes her/his mother a lot.
(c) The closeness between the mother and the child develops.
(d) The stress in the child gets reduced because of the mother's touch.
(e) Increases mother's awareness about the child's feelings.

2. The first time nursing of the child is very important. The first breast milk
after child's birth has all the ingredients to develop the child's immune
system.

Human milk is infant food, but for sick, hospitalized babies, it’s also medicine, says the research in this link - Critically Ill Infants Benefit from Human Milk

BREAST -MILK

A child should always be breast fed because when compared to the mother's milk, cow's milk contains four to five times as much calcium and phosphorus and two to three times as much casein in the form of protein. The kidneys in infancy are less efficient in excreting concentrated urine and fail to get rid of certain body metabolites if the plasma concentration becomes too high. It is noted that phosphorus excretion is particularly inefficient in infants.

However if the mother does not have enough milk, then diluted organic cow's milk can be given initially and then slowly un-diluted milk can be given.

Breast nipples cracks and pain: Sandal wood paste in milk cream can be applied on the breast to heal cracks. Unrefined coconut oil or unrefined sesame-oil application  is also recommended.

Application of Sesame seeds paste in milk on breast will remove cracks and pain too.

Increase breast milk: Depends on the hormes of the mother. Doing after delviery care and taking proper steps during pregnancy will help in avopiding this problem.

For Insufficient mother's or breast milk, soak one table spoonful of organically grown   Fenugreek  seeds in water over night. Next day, boil the whole with cow's milk. In the empty stomach if the mother drinks for a couple of days, breast milk production increases a lot  almost immediately. This is a proven ancient folk-home remedy for insufficient breast milk in lactating mothers.

COW'S MILK

However for certain reasons if the child needs cow's milk, then give organic cow's whole milk which is free from hormones and other chemicals. Dilute cow's milk to 50% (half volume milk and half volume water) and boil the milk well and then feed the child.

Next to human milk, fresh cow's milk is the most ideal food for infants and children. Do not give concentrated cow's milk, dilute and boil and then feed.

Increasing Breast Milk

Metformin, a popular drug for diabetes, was originally developed from goat’s rue. It is used in treating Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.
The herb is available as liquid extracts or capsules. My pick for breast-feeding mothers would be goat’s rue tea. Add one teaspoon of dried goat’s rue leaves to a cup of hot water and allowed to sit for 10 minutes. Filter, drink. It is that simple!

Fenugreek, which belong to the same family (Fabaceae) is given as a galactagogue in Kerala Ayurvedic tradition. While galactagogues in Europe seem to be more from random discoveries, in Ayurveda, it has been systematically documented by Charaka, thousands of years ago. Charaka has given a list of 10 herbs each for augmenting milk supply and for cleansing and detoxifying breast milk.

Charaka in his Samhita has addressed this issue at least 2,000 years ago. In this, he has given a list of herbs that help increase breast milk. I would like you to take a guess as to what these herbs are. They are, quite rationally, the same food that we give our cows. It consists of various grasses, darbha (Desmostachya bipinnata) and kusha (Saccharum spontaneum), cotton seed and other herbs. There are two main preparations called stanyajanana kashayam and stanyajanana rasayanam. The ingredients of stanyajanana kashayam, which was first enumerated in Charaka Samhita, have been reiterated in Ashtanga Sangraham. Ashtanga Hridayam gives the recipe for stanyajanana rasayanam, which has a jam-like consistency. Both these preparations help to greatly increase breast milk.

Baby Diet

A lot of mothers ask us whether they can give baby foods that are available in the market.

Read the following  ingredients........

Potassium Citrate; Calcium Phosphate; Calcium Carbonate; Ascorbic Acid; Potassium Chloride; Magnesium Chloride; Choline Chloride; Ferrous Sulfate; Sodium Chloride; Zinc Sulfate etc.......

You might think that the above might be the ingredients of fertilizer pack that you got for your home garden. You are mistaken .....it is the ingredients of a baby food pack.

|   Understand that the minerals and vitamins found baby food is in a very crude form. This crude of minerals are very harmful for the body. Your baby's body is not the plants or trees. The plants and tress can assimilate the crude form of minerals and nutrients  to assimilable form. The tender baby's body can only use the assimilable form. The crude form of nutrients might  cause oxidative damage body.

One might see fast growth in kids. Many parents have the notion that plump fast growth means healthy. No. A Kid at the age of 2 might look like a four year old. It looks great. But seldom the parents think that the faster the kid grows, the faster it ages. This fast growing kid at the age of 18 would look like aged 30. The same parents who felt great would then feel miserable. More than the parents the kid would feel miserable being over aged and with mover weight.

A review of 24 studies published online by the British Medical Journal on Friday showed that size early in life has a life-long impact.

"In the majority of studies the infants who were heaviest or those with the highest body mass index (BMI), and those who gained weight more rapidly in the first two years of life were more at risk of obesity," Dr Janis Baird, of the University of Southampton, in southern England, told Reuters.

"This was true for obesity in childhood, adolescence and adulthood."

Rates of obesity around the globe have been rising at an astounding rate. An estimated 155 million school-age children worldwide are overweight and about 35-40 million of that figure are obese, according to the International Obesity Task Force

If kid's are growing at a slow pace but are healthy falling less sick , it is a good sign. All that  is quick and easy done is not always good. Mothers may feel less work by using pre-prepared baby foods. But have you ever thought would you eat foods that were cooked and packed with an expiry date of a year?. How can then we feed tender  babies with old food?

The care you take for the baby is not for one generation. If the baby's body is damaged then it not suffer from poor health but would pass damaged genes to the next generation. No wonder now there is increased genetic diseases than ever before in the history of mankind. We would discuss this fact elsewhere.

If you care for your baby and your future generation's health, then your every second of your time and energy is valued.
