While performing the rituals during festivals like Deepavali, how should we pray? I some how feel The Ego is being strengthened worshipping for 16 different Wealth ( there is Goddess Lakshmi pooja performed during midnight of the Deepavali day ) or Husband's good health during Kedara gauri vratam on Amavasya or Deepavali day etc

What should be the intention while doing such rituals? Please guide. Thanks in advance.

Excellent Questions. Usually in Bharath tradition, the prayers included the five levels. In other words the intention or Sankalpa should be for the welfare of five groups.

1. Welfare of the world - Consciousness level - Lokaha Sukino Bhavanthu.
2. Progress of one's Self Awareness for higher evolution.
3. Pray, wish and work for the victory of Dharma in the society.
4. Pray for the healthy relationships with everyone.
5. Pray for health, wealth of oneself, family members friends etc.

This way the Ego is not strengthened, instead is contented and one may easily progress in inner evolution.

The 16 lakshmi's can be grouped into five groups

Group-1- Consciousness
Aadhi lakshmi (Primordial)
Group-2- Awareness
Moksha Lakshmi (Completeness, Salvation)
Vara lakshmi (Desire fulfilling boon giver)
Group-3- Intelligence
Vijaya Lakshmi (Victory)
Sowbagya Lakshmi (Fortunes)
Gaja Lakshmi (Power)
Raajya Lakshmi (Management skill)
Vidya Lakshmi (Education, knowledge)
Veera lakshmi (Security)
Group-4- Mind
Santhosha Lakshmi (Happiness)
Dhairya Lakshmi (Self-confidence)
Santhana Lakshmi (Family- children)
Group-5- Body
Arogya Lakshmi (Health)
Ishwarya Lakshmi (Prosperity)
Dhaana Lakshmi (Food)
Dhana Lakshmi (Cash flow)

Thank you very much.
So when we pray with the first intention i.e. "Lokaha Sukhino Bhavanthu", what all does this sukhinaha include? I hope they include welfare at all the five levels of the Lokaha..
Thanks.

Once there was ascientist, who called a carpenter and asked to drill one big hole in the door for the big cat to go out and four small holes in the door for the baby kittens to go out.

The carpenter said " I cant believe, that you are a genius scientist and how cant you know a simple thing that one big hole in door is enough for all the big cat and all four kittens to go in and out through it".

Even knowing this , our Ego mind consider specific prayers for all five levels, while one level is enough, because we are all cells in one comis body.

So till we get that level of understanding, the Rishi's of Bharat said it is okay to pray for one's own benefit, but include along with it , the other four also.

Lokaha Sukhino Bhavanthu. Yes you are right, these includes alll 14 lokas, which we classify as five.

Okay.Very happy to know that.

What would happen to that energy, when an individual just prays( performs abhishekam to Shiv linga, Sri chakra and does all the shodasha upacharas enjoying it) just because the individual loves to do it and feels close to the One there. Here the individual does not have even the intention of "Lokaha sukhino bhavanthu"

In that case, is the individual's physical energy, time energy being wasted by being of no use to any body? Definitely energy must have been converted into some form. Does it only benefit that particular soul to get more closer to the One? Please clarify. Thank you.

Excellent question. Like a student who studies because he enjoys the knowledge need not worry about the results of the exams or the benefits it would accrue to his family......surely he or she would do the exams very well and that knowledge would benefit those around the family members too.

Similarly doing rituals with enjoyment and connected to the one, need not think about the benefit of "Lokaha sukhino bhavanthu". It is automatically taken care of, because the individual is connected to "One", the energy of the whole.

If there are no desires, then the energy generated by the individual goes to connect himself to Adhi-lakshmi (primordial) and will turn into Moksha (one with the primordial). However members around that person will also be benefited to the extent they are in harmony with this individual.
