Thithi and pitru pooja:

When an individual dies, it is hard for the Self-Awareness Energy of the individual to give its attachment to the body. So it hangs around it. To enhance the Self-Awareness Energy to move on to the next body, this body is cremated (burnt in fire) and not buried.

A saint's body is not cremated because he or she has no attachment to the body.

Even if the body is destroyed, still the Self-Awareness energy hangs around the place (close blood-genetic family members) for 16 days. This is why for 16 days "Theetu" (obsessively connected-touched) is observed and so the family does not go to temples or any high energetic places.

The family bondage is relieved by the first Shrardha karmas or funeral rites on or between 11th to 16 days after death day and not the cremated day.

Why do Energy rituals to the dead person?: A human body is really made of five energy layers. The gross and sensually perceived "Body" layer is energized by food and so called Anna-maya kosha. (without this physical layer, the person is called physically dead).

Note : It is actually "Maaya" which means measurable in time and space and later became as maya.

Then the subter body is energized by Mental thoughts called Mano-maya kosha, without which the person is like dead or in coma.

Then even the subtler is gnana maya kosha or the organized pre-determined-genetic-impression filled body. Without this body it is called non-living thing (without a pre-determined genetic impression body).

Then even subtler is Prana maya kosha that which is energized by the Cosmic breath or the Cosmic Energy or Jeeva-Sakthi. This is also called as Soul.

This soul has to vibrate with a frequency matching life pattern to express its desires and hence vibrates with a body, which we call as the birth event.

When the soul has lost all energy in sensual pleasure enjoyment, requires energy to be born again. If it has not enough energy has to do a cosmic begging for energy. This is a hell-like condition. If has enough energy it is heaven for it. Enough energy to rebirth comes only through the good actions one does while living.

But death itself is an injury for the soul. Energy is needed for the soul to recuperate the loss. Rice and sesame are powerful medium to transport Energy waves.

The first aid hospital care for the soul are the 16 days death-rituals. Then for one year the home care are the 12 thithi's energizing rituals.
After this the soul leaves the genetic- family and joins the community family to be reborn to express its desires.

The Chief hospital doctor is Narayana and the twin doctors under him are Aswini devatas who are worshipped in these rituals.

After one year of the wounds get healed... the thithi's wont work, but pitru pooja only will make sense.

The day of the moon's cycle (thithi) on which the person died is noted. Thithi represents the shape-size of the moon. Moon represent our mind and also our family (parents). Hence for the first year, on all Thithi's (once a month) for 12 months the Thithi is done.

In these 12 times, the dead person accepts the Energy from the relatives only.

Thithi is done for our dead parents on the Thithi they passed away.

After 12 months, the departed soul detaches all ties and then accepts food energy from all on the No moon Ammavasya days. This is pitur pooja and can be done by all men, women and children, even if one's parents are alive.

Thithi is done only when parents are done, both by men and women.

Lighting of the fire to dead body should only by men and not by women.

Merits of doing Pitru pooja:
Transmitting Energy to the less-energy-souls is a noble act and so the cosmic energy gives the doer of pitru pooja energy, which can be used to fulfill material desires of life.

These are some benefits accrued.

Strong bonding with family, less traumatic thoughts in the mind, having all auspicious events like marriage , child birth happening on time, prevention of deadly health problems in the family......etc

In case of a death of a family member, is it okay to go to temples like sabrimala before one year of the death anniversary

The Theetu of a dead person for a family is only for 16 days.

In these 16 days they cannot visit any temple. After 16 days any temple can be visited. Infact they should go to temples and get Energy.

It is a wrong idea that people have spread about one year waiting period.

The one year is for the anniversary and not for the living people to visit temples.

Just to confirm with you, my father death day was on Aug .8th .. 1997. His thithi this year will be on Aug 12, 2015. Can I call a priest and do a prayer at home. I did the same last year. Is it ok to do every year ?

A soul when loses its body, has to be stable (peaceful) in the soul state until it is ready for reincarnation. To stay in souls state in a peaceful state also requires energy.

It is like a guy who left his home town to another town in search of a job. He needs Energy (money) first to be a in a comfortable place to look for a job. Then he needs energy to find a job. If he does not have his own funds, then he to depend on his family to wire transfer money to him for both his comfortable (peaceful-stable) stay and also to meet the expenses for applying and attending job interviews.

Similarly, the current souls, wont have enough Energy (Energy earned through selfless actions) to be peaceful and so require tithi rituals wire-transfer for
minimum one year. Then after that the new moon Ammavasya pitru pooja is sufficient to get a rebirth.

The thithi is done to give Energy to the departed soul to stabilize in their state to reincarnate again to fulfill desires, until the soul evolves to a state of no desires (Moksha). So it is good to do every year. A priest is needed if you do not know how to do it. If you know (see our videos), then a priest is not needed. Your awareness and devotion in doing is alone enough.

From Coimbatore, take National Highway towards Palakkad to trichur. Don’t go to Palakkad town, but continue from kanjikode to trisoor highway. Then after around 20 kilometrs you will reach Kuzhalmannam in the highway. There you have to take a right towards mathur towards pambadi…..Ivor Madom. It takes around 2 hours.

Q3. This is regarding thithi done during death anniversary of ancestors. I believe life energy or soul has some purpose to do which is planned by supreme God. It came to this world as human being only due to Him and there must be a definite way for it to survive by itself or look for its next destination. I strongly feel someone had come out with a wrong idea that present generation must feed the soul by doing rituals such as thithi...or thevasam or tharpanam etc. [May be an indirect way to instruct younger generation to respect elders???].

Hope you are clear with the five views and where we view about God and purpose of life. A God with a planned purpose of creating a soul is also a relative emotional view , but is not the absolute Truth. For an emotional religious person it is correct..but not from the other point of views.

In the physical view point , it is correct that this act brings a connection and regards to the old parents.

From the Energy view of the soul, the living people need not transfer energy to the dead souls, if the dead souls have already budgeted the energy for its stay before the next rebirth in its karmic bank account.

This can be understood like our parents in retirement, either have their own savings from their business profits or worked for the government to receive its pension. If both are not there, then the son takes care of the parent.

Similarly, each soul should have saved energy obtained through good-karmas in the period between death and rebirth or should have worked selflessly for Cosmic government, if not have to depend on the living relatives left behind to transfer energy. (see more details in this same thread in the earlier posts).

Q4. Even if we perform such a rituals what happens if the soul has already took rebirth? If we believe that soul has very low energy level and we are transferring energy by these rituals why not we do a selfless act by performing a big function or rituals at regular intervals so all the souls [irrespective of relationship] can get energy simultaneously instead of waiting till death day?

If you understand the karmic rituals in detail, you will know that any death ritual is only for one year after that the ritual is a collective offering and the energy goes irrespective of your relations. All relations last only at an intimate level for 16 days and then the final cutting of bond happens by the end of one year.

Can women touch the dead body or go to cremation ground? Yes women can do because the Vedic rituals satisfy all five levels of being.

At the physical and emotional level, a women or men should express grief over the dead individual. Therefore touching of the body is allowed.

At intellectual and awareness level, women can or should go to cremation ground and also offer Pinda Bali, but should not lit the fire alone.

Only a male should lit the fire because at the Awareness Energy level, the Atma is male or Purusha nature (without desires), at Jeeva (life) level only there is male and femaleness. Infact all Energy forms are female and all spirit or soul level it is Purusha.

Since death is the step to the next rebirth or Moksha, the Energy that lits the fire (Transformation of form) should be a Purusha to help in the journey of the Soul to be desire-less to attain Moksha.

Summary: Women can go to cremation ground, should offer pindali Bali , but should not lit the fire.
