Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) ranks the Quality of Indian Education

It was shocking to see India rank at the 73rd position among 75 participating countries in the 2012 test conducted by the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) recently.

Even if you are NRI, this article could change your perspective of education.

Very nicely thought and written article.

I would like to add few points.

1. I think because we are educated in a foreign (English) language we have difficulty in assimilating the information. That doesn't mean we should learn in native language. It means we need to find a balance.

2. Related to above, we are intimidated because all that we learn belong to foreigners. These include even the simple rhymes for kids. That means we do not have that many materials that are our own. We are always not comfortable with others thing.

3. Always we are comfortable following foreigners starting from British to Americans. That is because we have nice moral stuffs but we don't know why we have to follow it. We do not have good spiritual leaders to explain them.

Answers to your point 1.

There are countries like japan and china and many European countries where they only study in their native language and do well. I feel we should study in our native language all subjects and also know a foreign language like English, just for communicating globally.

point 2.

This inferiority feeling comes when we have not understood our own cultural values.

point 3.

we do not follow our culture because no one explained what is culture and its value and then gave culture. A value based education is what Uni5 is about. See this link about what is culture and why culture is important .
