Re: Whether children a consumer product? 11 years 1 month ago #376

@ Narasimha about drinking water.

Can we define the term Thirst? Why do our body feel thirsty?

The optimal definition which we get is when the volume of water goes below certain level, kidney informs brain and brain induces the thirst sense to the toungue.

But when the body is low in energy (calories), the brain induces the sense "Hunger"

So when the body asks for water, we give juice which has lot of calories when compared to water it like giving the body which something it doesn't want at that time. We don't want to listen to the body instead we assume by giving something extra the body will get the extra nutrition. But the body clearly tells us what is needs. But if we keep feeding juice when we are thirsty, the body will accept it out of no choice and let you increase the calories intake which is not needed for the body.

This is similar to giving the child something which is not needed during certain age. We don't listen to the children carefully to what they exactly need, we always assume what they want and inject our ideas and perception into them.

Please let me know if you have any valid points regarding this. We are all here to learn together.

@ Neelima

Exactly, we need to be always in the listening mode, only then we can easily learn what we need and we don't need.

Beautiful point which you mentioned. Yes the kids are always observing, they learn easily and effortlessly just by observing. If we observe very close, we can see every child reflect their parents or the society. The kid gives opportunity to us to see where we lack knowledge and where we are strong. That's why we call them God's gift.

It is like to keep a healthy body, we need to only 2 things.

1. Eat when the body asks for it and stop it when it says "No"
2. Intake the taste when the tongue asks for it and stop when it says "No"

It is very simple task to keep a healthy which we make it very complicated by expecting too much from the body, because majority don't understand what is healthy. Majority think when the body's outer look seems attractive it is healthy, but what about the inner organs below the skin?

The same similarity is with kids also. Majority parents don't understand the term successful kid. Majority classify the term growth as more money, education, fame etc., (exterior looks), but there is no importance given to the inner growth.

@ Narasimha

How do we know the kids do not know anything?

Just an example: Can a parent understand with babies cry, whether they are crying for hunger or thirst?
