PREBIOTICS foods are rich in special types of dietary fiber that works like a fertilizer for the good bacteria in our gut or intestines to grow. They grow and create good health in our body functions. This is why traditionally we eat different vegetables and not the monotnous vegetables we eat today like just potator, tomotao, carrots and spinach. Traditioanlly several types of beans, raw-jackfruit, banana-stem, raw-banana, raw-mango were cooked, several types of leaves, beans etc. Alll these are pre-biotics.

PROBIOTICS are live bacteria found in curd, yogurt and other fermented foods like fermented rice etc. Lactobacillus types are most common.

‘PARA-PROBIOTICS’ or ‘ghost probiotics’are dead microbes. But they are soothing for the intestines and stimulate immune mechanisms. Idli , aappam, turmeric flavored-yogurt9 Moru-kolambu or curry) are the best para-probiotics.

This is the intelligence of our Traditional health. When some one is sick probiotic food *fermented not give, but Para-probiotic like idli, Moru-kolambu or curry) are given to stimulate immunity.
