Seventh Night:
From this night onwards we invoke Sarswathi, which means the satvic quality or the knowledge in doing an action successfully.

To invoke this one has to clear the impurities. This cleansing act is symbolized by the 7th Navadurga Kalarathri.

Therefore it is saraswathi who kills five Asuras.

Thus Navarathri is about one Devi in nine stages (Navadurga), in three modes (Maha-kali-Lakshmi-Saswathi) fighting 6 Energy depleting qualities or Asuras. Sura is energy generating and Asuras are energy spenders. In Kaushiki, the dark skin of Parvathi, she fought the two brothers.

1. Dumralochan (lobha)
2. Chanda (Lobha)
3. Munda (Lobha)
4. Nisumbha (Madha)
5. Sumbha (Matsarya)

Mahalakshmi (fights Moha)
6.Raktabeeja (to procreate or to give rise to many)
7. Mahisasur (laziness, resisting to transform but waste energy in changing only forms...Vikhepa Sakti).

Durga
8. Madhu (Energy that is lost or spent in strong Likes)- Kaama
9.Kaitabha (strong dislikes)- Krodha
These two are two malas (dirt) from ear, which means without good listening or attending satsangs (grouped or association with talking the Truth).

Five purification systems:
1. Rituals like fasting removes kama and krodha.
2. Upasana or keep the mind by a personal relationship removes Moha
3. Chanting mantras creates intelligence and understandings and remove lobha.
4. Awareness through meditation and pranayam a removes Pride or Madha
5. Selfless service removes Matsarya or Jealousy.

Eight Night:
When the inner purification is done, then one sees with clearly or in white form, one's Self. This is symbolized as the eighth Durga, Mahagauri.

There is not Good energy and bad energy. It is only income and expenses. We say anything income as "Good" and if any action we lose energy we say as Bad.

There is no evil or satan or demon or papa or sin. These are symbolic expressions of Energy expenses.

God, good, punya, merits are all symbolic expressions of Energy income.

Ninth Night:

Once the Self is evident to oneself, the powers are self-realized and hence the ninth Durga is now called "Siddhidatri", the giver of sidhis or power.

There are eight Siddhis (powers) , they are-
Anima (Ability to change the physical size to the smallest),
Mahima (Changing the size to the largest),
Garima (Becoming infinitely heavy),
Laghima (Becoming weightless),
Prapti (Having access to all places),
Prakambya (Generating any desire),
Ishitva (Having sovereign lordship)
Vashitva (Controller of all things).

Lord Shiva appears with dynamic sakthi (power) is when he becomes half and half with Siddhidatri, the eight powers as “Ardhnarishwar” (The Lord who is half-Shiva and half-Shakti).

In relation to understanding Energy concepts, it is our choice to budget energ yin whatever stages we want. In the end when the whole energy is segrregated into one pursuit of transforming into Divine, it is Moksha.

2016 Navarathri Messages

1st Night

We are confronted with many issues / challenges within us, within the family members, the society, nation and planet at large. Most of these 'arise' without our knowledge or awareness due to our own likes (Madhu) and dislikes (Kaitabha), the twin demons (Madhu & Katabhan). The twin demons were formed from the ear wax of Lord Vishnu when he was sleeping.

If these strong likes and dislikes goes out of intelligent control, they create havoc in our lives.

Navarathri's 1st day depicts that we should be vigilant of these strong likes and dislikes creeping in us. Maha Kaali is the symbolic of this awareness and warrants action to be taken by waking up from our slumberness of ignorance.

2nd Night

In Shakthi worship, killing of the Demon Mahishasura is an important event. Buffalo symbolizes the 'adamant attitude' of our ego. In order to destroy the demon Mahishasura, (symbolically - 'adamant attitude' us), Para Shakthi takes the form of Durga Devi. Durga Devi is the combined personification of all the Shakthi.

Durga Devi is the awareness within us who ensures we don't take the wrong path in life. From ancient times till now, Durga Devi is the most celebrated Goddess in our country Bharath. For destroying one evil, multiple forces (Shakthi) will join hands. All the sculptures / paintings till date depicts this very insight for us to relate to.

October 5th

With Devi's blessings, the next demon that needs to be slayed is 'Dhumralochanan'. This demon is the symbolic representation of our own 'negative attitude'. Some people may have the habbit of finding fault in others at all times. Anything & everything others does, this character will keep looking only at the negative side and will keep finding fault. Let us all pray Goddess Shakthi for converting this negative energy into a positive energy (appreciating others, finding only the positives in others & ignore the negativities etc.)

October 6th

Tonight, with Devi's blessings, we will slay two dangerous demons - namely, Chandan & Mundan. Who are they? In everyone's life, we may think of unwanted thoughts. Most of us may not be 'aware' of the existence of such negative thoughts within us. Indirectly, we may be feeding these negative thoughts to convert it to action. It is this strong supporting energy / influencers which represents the two demons - Chandan & Mundan. Goddess Shakthi killed these two amd hence she got the names Chandi, Chamundi etc. The name is a combination of Chandan & Mundan whom Devi killed.

October 7th

As humans, we all have another dangerous character in us. And that is nothing but - WORRY. We have the tendency to keep pondering over various issues & keep worrying about them. Immaterial of whether the situation warrants us to be worried, we keep worrying about everything. We convert one wornry into another thereby building a huge 'worry bin' within us. This negative character is represented as the demon 'Rakthabheejan'. Based on scriptures, Rakthabheejan is depicted to form thousands of Rakthabheejas from every drop of blood. This demon can also be represented as the character of how we manipulate to 'cover' on mistake. To hide one mistake, we tell lies. And to cover each lie, we end up telling many more lies. Let us pray Goddess Shakthi to help us overcome this negative character called worry from us.

October 8th

Today, we will pray Goddess Saraswathi for blessing us. Once Moola nakshatra starts today, we will keep books/education related items in our pooja for getting Goddess Saraswathi's blessing for showering good & right education for children. For work related family members, we will keep tools used for their work and pray Goddess Saraswathi. From today, for three days, any tool related to your profession (be it machinery or mouse, calculators or computers) needs to be 'recharged' by Goddess Saraswathi.

On this auspicious day, let us take effort to remove another negative character within us. This negative character is symbolles by the demon 'Sukreevan'. Please note this is not the Sukreevan from Ramayana. This demon is considered to be the 'Personal Assistant (PA)' of all the other demons. Sukreevan has this character to add 'fuel to the fire' on all the wrong things and thereby making progress in the wrong things. Let us all pray Goddess Saraswathi for helping us to slay this negative character within us.

October 9th

With the divine grace of Goddess Maha Saraswathi, let us slay two important demons, namely - Sumba, Nisumban. The two were brothers with very strong bondage between them. Their bondage was so intimate that they had obtained boon that only they can kill themselves & no one in the world can kill them. In the end, they both got attracted in Goddess Saraswathi's beauty and started fighting with each other based on the Instructions from the Goddess. This character symbolles the fact that all negagive & wrong behaviours will destroy itself one day. This is same as - 'digging our own grave'. Let's pray Goddess Saraswathi for giving us the Gyana for us to differentiate right and wrong & correct ourselves.
