Energy is one but functionalities varies. One single electric current is used to generate, light, sound, heat, mechanical work, pressure etc. Similarly the Cosmic Energy is one but the functionalities vary. To get a particular functionality, different slokas and chantings are done. Kanakadhara has a special quality in improving all different types of functionality. More details on given in this link.

Yes Energy is one and the definition is also very clear "Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, but can be transformed"

As you clearly mentioned Chanting of mantras is done to transform the energy to individual needs. But there is a factor which I see as overlooked. To transform this energy there is a factor needed apart from the tool (mantras) be used. Without this hidden factor the energy will not manifest into different forms even when the tool exists. The hidden factor is called DESIRE / SANKALPA

Energy - The ONE energy
Tool - Chanting mantras
Hidden factor - Desire or Sankalpa

Before chanting the sankalpa need to be clearly mentioned and be aware of the sankalpa to do a effective chanting.

Note : Even wanting for Moksha is a desire / sankalpa.

A recent story which I read about Buddha

Buddha asked a disciple "What do you want?" The disciple answered "I want happiness". Buddha replied take off the "I" and "want" and see what is remaining.

Very nice questions Neelima and very nice answers by Muthu.

So if we chant Mantras without making sound i.e. internally, Won't the reduced energy functionality increase?

What about the effect of Japa on the energy functionality?
?

Purpose of chanting mantra with own voice will help to cause a magnetic field around us influencing our thought pattern.

If we do silently japa (chanting without making sound), that reduces the frequency of thoughts in the mind. Thinking thoughts also reduces our SAL Energy. So silent Japa reducing thoughts is another way to avoid wastage which is equal to earning SAl Energy.

In early stages we ask children to read loud so that they hear thwir own voices and get into their awareness the nature of the sound and identity with it. Then we ask them to read silently.

Same way beginning it is good to chant with our voice loudly and then slowly to silent mode.

Ultimately all this is done for maturing the mind.

finally it is only the One Consciousness principle?

What to do? All these different slokas are for the mind. Food is eaten for energy. But we have trained our mind for going for variety and so we eat pizzas, idli, fried-rice, noodles, chapathi etc etc. Everything is for giving glucose and nutrients for the body. Why take in different form, if the body is only one?.
It is because of the nature of the mind, to always have changes (transformation). But this changing mind has to be transformed. This is why all these rituals were given.

What are the directions to chant Om Namah Shivaya as suggested by Guruji?

Om Namah Shivaya means "I identity to Awareness". This will significantly help us to transcend from the mind to the Awareness levels simultaneously SAL energy .

It is good to chant minimum of 1008 times. Start the chant from the oil lamp that is lit and then continue it while walking or driving or in times when the mind unnecessarily thing junk thoughts. This is a good means to keep the us positive because we are more in the awareness state than the likes and dislikes of the mind.

FAQ:
1. Is it ok if I chant Om Nama shivaya in mind... Instead of making sound....
It should not be too loud, nor too silent. Normal talking taling voice and speed is the best. If you are in a crowd and dont want others to be disturbed, then, just like a whisper sound is best. Because the sound when it comes through your mouth and you hear it is the most powerful way to chant any mantra.
2. In that case shall I chant this mantra during periods
Refer Agama and Tantra
If you have no complaints in life and you accept all incidents in life as God's wish, then you can do in periods, because you are doing in Agama (Devotion) without any materialistic desires.

However when you are doing on tantra based (fruits in return) you cannot do it in periods. In periods time you can recite the mantra given by guru because it is for inner spiritual evolution.

3. Will it cause anything harmful if this mantra is chanted with sound during periods time. No harm it just goes totally a waste through blood bleeding out of body. Hence in periods "most" tantric rituals are avoided, but Agama rituals are good.
4. What should I have to do with the ash obtained at the end of ganapathy pooja.
You can put in compost if you have, if not then put in a envelope or bag and then put in a trash can.
5. You have some charity program for a mandala donation right... I want to join sir. How can I send the coins after 41 days? Will you send the box for that?
The Sakthi Mandala coins can be given to any community serving organization. If you wish to donate it to Sakthi Foundation, you can give an equivalent amount and use the coins again for your mandala rituals. You can use any box, need not from us.
