Why we should not use the matchstick directly for lighting the wicks?
The lamp is an instrument to generate the Awareness-Energy in us. We use a side lamp to light the main lamp instead of directly lighting with a match stick.

This is because the energy from the match stick has the chemical energy converted to light energy. We want the awareness-energy to light the main lamp and not a chemical energy to initiate it.

At an emotional level, we consider the main lamp as Lakshmi and so we want to give due respect by invoking her with another lighted-lamp and not a match stick. It is like giving a scissor to the chief guest to cut the ribbon who is inagurating a building, instead of making him to use his hands and apply force to cut the ribbon.

1)If I use ghee for lighting the lamp is that better? It is similar to asking is orange juice better or mango juice better. Each has its own flavor and nutrients to supply to the body. If you need more vitamin C you would take orange juice and Mango juice for vitamin A. At the same time it doesnt mean that mango has no vitamin C at all. However the Vitamin C quantity is higher in orange juice.
Same way ghee lamps give a different flavor or quality in the energy that is generated. it emanates more energy needed for love and harmony. Sesame oil is for generating energy to over-come cosmic energy debts ( see this link on Saturn )

Ghee is from cow's milk and it is out of unconditional love it produces milk more than needed for its calf. Ghee is used when we have no conditions in life and leave everything as God's will. If we want life as the way we want, then we need luck energy to be generated. Then sesame oil is used for such conditions. see below for more details.

2)Should I still use sesame for Neelanjanam? And is it ok to pour that sesame oil into the ghee lamp? For Neelanjanam it is ghee, because already you have sesame seeds in the pouches. Dont mix sesame oil and ghee.

3)Why should you not let the wick char or go out on their own? Wicks charring denotes two things. 1. It happens when all the energy generating oil is drained. You dont want energy draining, instead use energy generation. The wick represent our own body. It is like body burns its own nutrients when we starve for food. You dont want that to hap[pen in life.
secondly, it reflects the lack of awareness. The lamp is lit and unattended (no awareness). So do all the rituals in front of lamp and then after it is dont put it off.

We are not lighting lamp for God. it is for sake we are doing.
we have not clear about Agama Bhakthi (Devotion) and Tantric Energy generating rituals for increasing prosperity in life. In devotion there is no problem if the wicks go charred. But when we want specific desire to be fulfilled (our conditions to God), then it has to be done according to the tantric technology. see this link more about it .

Can I use two candles instead? I don't have one of those lamps.

No Candles are made of animal fat or paraffin oil (fossil fuel). So candles do not generate the energy that we want.

Infact they deplete the energy around us.

Also the fire in contact with the metal of the oil-lamp also changes the quality (wavelength, frequency, amplitude, vibration etc) of the energy produced.

Do i have follow this two chanting kanakdhara (all energy) and angaraka (business)for both home and our business as well?.

If you do at home the energy is for your professional success. If you do at work place, it is for you as well as the company.

1. Oil lamp must be kept on insulated surface to avoid grounding.-

Q1. Cosmic energy is invisible and available in the around us in space and how can it be grounded like electrical energy... If so our ancestors would have provided lamps made of non metals instead of brass or silver. I believe they had immense knowledge than us from the way I see veda's are written.
There is only one Energy (Ancient and also modern science call it Electromagnetic) with different vibrational frequencies and interacts with matter. Our Rishis were knowledgeable and so used metals in the temple towers and all the places in the temple to harness Energy. Please understand that the God you are referring and God's Energy are two different aspects (see God-consciousness and Energy in this web-site). God Consciousness is everywhere, but Energy is localized and has to be harnessed for the welfare of being.

Q2. Lamps has provision for 5 wicks which are spread equal distance across 360 degrees [360/5 =72 degree]. But in the procedure following directions are mentioned ..W, NW,NE,SE & SW. to light up in the morning. Energy is available everywhere around us and can't it be absorbed by keeping lamp in any direction? More over if particular directions are so important then why not the lamp manufactured with groves positioned in those particular directions?
The TV and radio waves are present everywhere, but the antenna has to be positioned from the receiving directions for efficient picture capture. So is the wicks and hence see ancient Tamil Nadu "KUthu" Vilakku's five groves exactly pointing to the right directions.

Unfortunately we use Kuthu vilakku but do not turn one wick to west and automatically all the wick groves will then point to the correct directions.

Summary:
All knowledge is there, but we are the one not having awareness and not using it for our betterment of life.
