Water requirement of our Body

The amount of water intake is determined by Allopathic doctors considering the amount of water lost. The water lost in the form of sweat or urine is around 1.5lit.Around ½ lit of water is evaporated by lungs during exhalation process by all kind of individuals in all the seasons. To reduce the heat in the intestines around 300-450ml of water is evaporated daily.
So considering the above, around 2-2.5 lit is assumed to be sufficient for a natural simple lifestyle and clean environment of olden days. But in this modern lifestyle where we consume cooked food, usage of salt in our foods for taste, Tensions and stressful work life, Pollution in the environment, usage of oil and ghee in pulavs and sweets increase our Water requirement for the body. So these readings of olden days are not correct for our current lifestyle.

Symptoms when the water intake is not sufficient
1. Urine yellow in color
2. Strong and smelly Urine
3. Irritation or burning sensation while passing Urine
4. Excess Heat in the body
5. Burning sensation in the eyes
6. Burning sensation on the skin or dry skin or head ache
7. Feeling dryness in the mouth

Quantity of Water required for different individuals

Kidney failure patients, Enlarged Heart, Liver cirrhosis, Glaucoma should not take 1.5 lit water at once or 5-6 liters of water per day. They have to consume based on doctor’s advice. All others can take water as below.

Method of Water intake
We must take 4-5 liters of water in a distributed manner.

1.As soon as you wake up rinse your mouth with water and take 1.5 liters of water at a stretch in standing position. Those who find it difficult to take this amount of water may increase the quantity of water intake gradually as per their convenience.
2.After your first ablution and practicing of Yoga, Pranayamam and Meditation i.e. after 1 or 1.5 hrs have your second installment of 1 liter of water.
3.Keep drinking water after 2 hours of taking any solid food with an interval of 15 minutes to 30 minutes between each glass of water.
4. Never take water along with food or immediately after taking food and have food only after 30 minutes of taking water.
5.Take third installment of water in the Evening at around 5.30 pm and complete your third stool of the day.
6.If you feel thirsty, you may just have half a glass of water before retiring to bed.

So, if we consume water in this manner as suggested by Dr.Raju we are sure to have 3 free bowel movements per day, Good production of Digestive juices in our stomach, Good production of mucus membranes in the intestines which protect the inner layers of our digestive system and ease the passage of stools and attain finally a Fit body without diseases.
