I have a question wandering in my mind for long time.I have a broken deity Ganapathy statue at home. The leg was broken and I manage to glue it together. The statue is made from fiber material similar to the one used for ganapathy festival in India.

Is it harmful to keep broken deity at home?
Some belief it might bright bad luck and so forth.

kindly advice.thank you

There is a difference between Deity and Statue/Idol. In your case Ganapathy (Deity) and Fiber (Statue). In deity worship it is very important to know the difference, else we get stuck inside the quagmire. Deity is the soul inside the statue and the statue is the material manifestation of the soul's form.

In few places in India you might have observed people make take a small lump of clay or cow dung and put a flower on top of it and worship as Ganapathy. If they see clay and cow dung, then there is no deity, if they see deity then there is no cow dung.

In your case it is the same, if you see the statue, then there is no Ganapathy, if you see Ganapathy then there is no statue. Here the question is can Ganapathy/deity/soul break or the statue/material manifestation break?

If we can get the answer to this, then an individual can see whether it brings bad luck or anything else?

Muthu has given the apt answer. Still from Uni5 way of finding an answer, ask yourself, if you got your parent or sibling or child, broke a leg or hand....will we consider as a bad luck in house?. Of course the handicapped individual will have less energy in performing actions at home. But our love of accepting as they are, they could even do better than the normal individuals.

As per the rules of statue Agamas, broken idols will not reflect Energy properly, hence are asked not be kept (people wrongly reflect as bad luck). As Muthu said, with devotion pure love, an idol would even do better than an perfect idol. Again we have to understand that we are invoking our SAL Energy in the idol. Please listen to the explanatory talks in this section in English or Tamil .

Thie above link has explanation in both english and tamil.
