Porayar Andavar 1st-8th Standard School

Porayar is a small village in Tamil Nadu, South India. The Andavar Porayar school was started in 1950 in the name of a great Indian freedom fighter: Ms. Thillaiaadi Valliammai . The school founders are Mr. Muthuraman and Mr.Venkatesh and families.

EnglishgirlsThe school operates in two places in Porayar. The Infancy center  and elementary school ( 1to 5th grade)  is called the Thillaiaadi school.

From 6th to 8th grade is in a different location in Porayar known as the Porayr Andavar School.

The present school facilities are barely sufficient.

We have 3 certified Uni5 teachers who do a wonderful job with very little resources. English classes are given via mobile phone with one of our long distance teachers and International students have visited with cultural presentations. The students are thriving with the Uni5 method of teaching and the students are eager to continue their studies at the secondary level. Our goal is to extend classes to the secondary level very soon (grades 9th and 10th).

Improvements need to be undertaken to provide proper classrooms, library, recreation area and science lab. Once we reach these goals, the government will Gclassroom2014provide support in terms of secondary class teachers. Our target is to improve the school facilities in 2015 and open the secondary school next year. These improvements will benefit the whole school and raise the standard of education for all the pupils.
